What does heart coherence feel like?

Heart coherence is a state where the heart, mind and emotions work in harmony. When you experience a good heart coherence you may feel a sense of calm, clarity and emotional balance. Personally, it is a state that I don't want to leave. It is as though all the stress, worry and anxiety have vacated my body, my body is breathing slowly by its own choice and there is an overwhelming sense of peace and wellbeing. Please understand, this is my personal observation and yours may be a little different. However, the general consensus of many of our clients is very similar to what I have described.

What is a good heart coherence score?

Heart coherence scores are measured on a scale of 0-16, reflecting the stability and regularity of heart rhythm patterns. A higher score indicates better coherence.

Ideal Coherence Levels:

1. Basic Level (0.5 to 4): Good for beginners, but indicates low coherence

2. Medium Level (4 to 8): Shows some wave-like patterns, indicating improved balance.

3. High Level: (8 to 12): Represents a stable, sine-wave-like rhythm, optimal for health and performance

4. Very High Level: (12 to 16): Indicates excellent coherence, where the heart and nervous system are in sync.

Do I need a HRV monitor or technology to achieve this state?

No - absolutely not. The techniques are designed to be used "on the fly" at any time of the day, without any special poses and can be done with eyes open or closed as the situation dictates. This means you can be creating a state of coherence in public, and nobody around you will even know.

However, the technology can help to indicate when you are achieving coherence and when not so much. In the beginning there were times that I thought I was doing well but my Inner Balance sensor indicated the contrary. And vice versa - there were times that I thought I was distracted but my score gave a better reading than expected. So, in short, the technology is a useful training aid to help you achieve the best heart coherence levels you can.
